The 3rd biennial Fundraising Dinner was held on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Garden Suite Hotel in Los Angeles, CA in conjunction with the Ewha Womans University Alumnae Association of Southern California. The International Foundation for Ewha Womans University would like to give special thanks to Southern California Alumnae under the leadership of Mrs. Soo Kyung Kim Lim for their dedication. Fundraising dinner Committee Chair Mrs. Sook Hyun Lee orchestrated the event.

지난 2007년 4월 28일, 로스앤젤레스의 가든스위트 호텔에서는 매 2년 마다 열리는 이화여자대학교 국제재단의 제 3회 기금모금만찬 행사가 이숙현 모금만찬위원장과 남가주이화동창회(회장 김수경)의 정성과 헌신으로 성황리에 치르어졌다.

The dinner event was honored by the participation of University President Bae Yong Lee and Dean Myung Sun Lee, Office of University Relations and Development. Ms. Harriet Fulbright, President of the J. William and Harriet Fulbright Center, was the guest speaker as well as honoree at the Fundraising Dinner.

한국 본교에서는 이배용 총장과 이명선 대외협력처장이 참석하여 자리를 더욱 빛내 주었으며, J. William and Harriet Fulbright Center 의 해리엇 풀브라이트 여사는 특별히 준비된 감사장을 수여하고 기조 연설을 해주었다.

The dinner commenced with the invitation of Dr. Marc Mullinax, which made the graduates and friends of Ewha look back the journey from the University in SeoDaeMunGu, Seoul to present. Foundation President Sharon Z. Rader welcomed with appreciation for the support to the women's education in Ewha. University President Bae Yong Lee introduced Initiative Ewha Project, a new direction for Ewha establishing the education and research complex of Paju.

사회자 마크 멀리낙스 이사는 참석자들로 하여금 서울 서대문구의 이화에서 출발하여 현재 자리에 오기까지 그 긴 여정을 돌아보게끔 초대하는 말로 만찬행사를 시작하였다. 새론 레이더 이사장의 인사말에 이어 이배용 총장은 이니셔티브 이화 프로젝트와 파주 교육단지에 대한 비전을 소개하였다.

After Dr. Ted A. Campbell's prayer and Korean style dish, the honorable award was given to Ms. Fulbright. She extolled Ewha's education for the future women leaders and emphasized to create empathy and a greater understanding between peoples with different ways of looking at the world and its communities for the lasting peace.

테드 캠벨 이사의 기도에 이어 한국식 저녁식사 후에는 풀브라이트 여사에 감사장이 수여되었다. 풀브라이트 여사는 이화의 우수한 여성 교육을 높이 사면서, 다양한 배경과 문화, 가치관을 가진 다양한 공동체가 상호 이해를 증진하여 세계 평화를 위해 노력할 것을 주창하였다.

The dinner night was highlighted by a group of young musicians. Korean American Youth Symphony performed Mozart, Bach and Pachelbel. The contribution resulting from the event of 130 participants totaled about $50,000.

한미음악재단의 청소년오케스트라는 모짤트, 바하, 파헬벨의 음악을 선사하여 행사를 더욱 풍성하게 꾸며주었다. 이화여자대학교 국제재단은 130여명이 참석한 이번 모금만찬행사를 통하여 총 5만여불을 모금하였다.

Before the dinner event, Foundation board had retreat learning more deeply how to do the work to support and fundraise in behalf of Ewha W. University and students. Well organized with much effort of President Rader and Vice President Dr. Moonja Chung Park, the board members had intensive program for 24 hours, including overviews and discussion on various issues and lectures on fundraising by Mrs. Sunok Chun Pai and Suncha Lim Lee.

모금만찬에 앞서 재단이사회는 이틀에 걸쳐 워크샵을 하는 시간을 가졌다. 정문자 재단 부이사장이 준비한 프로그램에 따라 이사진은 재단의 전반 사항에 걸쳐 공부하고 재정리하였으며 미래의 발전 방향에 대해 모색하는 시간을 가졌다. 특히 전선옥 씨의 기금모금 강연과, 임선자 이사의 브라운대학 기금모금 사례 보고는 이사진의 모금에 대한 지평을 넓혀 주었다.
